Documenting Biblical Errors

Some believe the Bible is perfect, makes no errors and can even be looked at as scientifically accurate, though how you do that with a two thousand year old text is beyond me.
But, it didn’t take me long to find plenty of folks who have taken the time to study the Bible and point out it’s many errors and faults.
I myself just know that from my younger days when I was much more interested in this stuff, picking up the Bible and randomly opening it to read, inevitably left me reading some section I found silly to evoking a sense of revulsion - that had me praying to that Christian God to brow beat Him for the bull shit he tries to cram down our minds. But that’s just me. For a more studied skeptical review of the Bible here are but a few.

The Holes in the Holy Bible
Bible Babble - The Holy Bible and it's Errors, Contradictions, and so on.
If I had the time I know I could make the list a long a the one’s Pahu’s been tossing at us. But I don’t have the time, I’m already sinning by not having my Ms.Mac shut down an hour ago. Thank God I can often make my own schedule so have some wiggle room.

Though not specific about biblical errors, you could also add the Skeptic's Annotated Bible: http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/

Unfortunately, the more errors that get pointed out, the more true believers tend to cling to the bible. Something I’m sure their god would be ashamed of.

I think what helps is when they themselves do thorough research and see the issues. If it comes from the outside, usually they just get more defensive. Its what you get with believers in anything when cognitive dissonance starts going haywire. In my experience, nothing anyone said here would have really affected me. I had to read several books from cover to cover and really reexamine things honestly before I changed. And even though the new knowledge is interesting and fun to know, leaving the faith is not pleasant especially when you grow up indoctrinated by your parents from the beginning of your existence.

If you’re even remotely interested in reading about the Hebrew god who promoted murder, Rapine, infanticide, genocide, slave mongering, vaccicide, and all manner of mayhem before he changed himself into the mild mannered forgiver of sins and bringer of peace and then had himself killed, read Dan Baker’s newest book God:The Most Unpleasant Character in All Fiction. Using direct quotes from the “good Book” ,Barker shows the egregiously jealous and malevolent side of the almighty and how he thoughtlessly had millions murdered in his name. It’s a quick read and every quote is carefully noted by chapter and verse. It ends with quotes attributed to Jesus who proclaimed himself to be the very god of the Old Testament who slew millions. Barker has named him “The Lord Jealous” for a good reason; that’s what God supposedly called himself. Forward by Richard Dawkins BTW.

What's your sin and how do you know it's a sin? By what criterion?

It’s difficult to reject your parents’ faith. It means accepting that they were wrong. When you can finally forgive them for being wrong, you can begin to move on and become an independent thinker–probably not before.

Yep, I read that book about a month ago. Good reference for understanding Yahweh the Moral Monster.
