Did you ever pay a little too much for something, a refrigerator let’s say. And after a few days you realize it’s not really working out as you expected? And so what do you do? Pretty soon you’re trying to convince yourself otherwise by saying what a great purchase that was, wow what a great frig, so great, boy honey we really made a great purchase, I’m sooo happy.
That’s how so many Christians, Jews, and Muslims strike me. I mean if you have to pray constantly, read the bible constantly, go to church, make every other sentence contain a reference to the greatness of your loving god, then it really seems you don’t believe at all. If your belief was strong, it wouldn’t need constant re-inforcement.
My neighbor lady is like that. I avoid her. Her husband gets sick, god is telling him something, he gets better, god. Her car breaks down, god. The church chips in and buys her a piece of junk, “That’s what Christians do for each other!”.

If you give a car to charity, you can only write off the amount the charity sells the car for. And charity don’t get much for the donated cars. But if the charity gives the car away, then you are able to write off an appraised amount or high blue book. There are quite a few outfits picking up donated cars mainly for churches here in California. The churches have to pay for the license, smog and a handling charge.

We might have a religions gene that makes people that way. It does not have to have logic to be a human characteristic tract.
