Well, we'll get to watch this show unfold together. But, please do explain what's all that's supposed to mean, and why you take hope in it? It looks like a record of pathetic failure to me {graph image is too big to post} Seems to me the part you're forgetting is the Earth observations and how our climate has transitioned over the past 3, 4 decades and how those trends are what's in control now, no matter how much ink and hot air are spent over it. Especially since it's been made perfectly clean mankind is more committed to war than to appreciating that we depend on that stable climate our planet has experienced for near ten thousand years. Fine OK, we don't care a rat-ass for destroying that delicate balance despite clear education and warnings about what we were doing to our atmosphere and what the implications of that were, for the past century and more. Guess i gotta learn to live and die with it... For me myself there is a twisted comfort in knowing that for countless generations, inquiring minds, have wondered how this whole human pageant will end. We belong to those few generations who will know and understand how that end to Earth's Great Human Experiment comes about. Yea, yea, the details aren't clean, where will the hardest heaviest blows come first and then what... ~ ~ ~ Here's what I'm talking about

Sad part is, it's obvious we are incapable of adapting to serious rapid changes, like the one's heading our way.

When is The Economist going to figure out how much CO2 is caused by Planned Obsolescence?

Climate change is occurring and needs to be brought under control, but not at the expense of the economically disadvantaged.
Did you watch The Daily Show earlier this week? Your statement is a fact but the bigger problem is that the US Government Science Committee doesn't see it as a fact at all. How can they make decisions about the proper way to handle a problem when they refuse to accept that there is a problem at all? It's a similar problem with religious belief or even anti-vaccine-type beliefs: they are mutually reinforced within the group. If one person in a crowd of 100 people says that their child is autistic because of a vaccine they received but no one agrees with them, then they are viewed as being crazy. Same situation but instead a few people agree with them then more of the crowd believed it which then reinforces it again and again. The same can be said with climate change. I believe so many people have heard enough non-scientific rhetoric that discredits the science behind climate change, it's at a point of being "common knowledge" now. I think the key thing that needs to be done is to NOT assume people know climate change real and needs be dealt with, but work show people that it is true humans doing it. Once the general public understand this then the politicians will have to pay attention for fear of not being re-elected, who will then in turn create policies that could possible do something.
