He doesn’t do that. Why can’t you see that? What he’s doing is what he considers a conversation. You can’t make him be something else.
What site?
What’s unreliable?
How about some examples of some posted “crackpot theories”?
Why not try to actually have a conversation?
But we live in a flow of constant interactivity - how can there be interaction without affecting dynamics?
For every action there is a re-action - and all that jazz.
That’s physics and psychology.
Do you behave the same, with everyone you meet?
We are not islands onto ourselves, even if some dream the dream.
Why can’t he be challenged?
What you think you know everything about him?
Why are you shoving that intent up my keister???
I can’t make anyone do anything else - but I can be part of their process of growth.
When he engages with me, I have a right to engage with him!
Are you ordering me to relinquish that right???
Because I’m the moderator. Don’t feed the trolls and don’t argue with this comment
First warnning
And, obviously “the website” is iai.tv. you should look up your sources sometimes
Recently, you were saying “it’s all chemicals”. That’s what this video is describing. This is why I call you a troll. Trolling does not require intention, it’s the result that matters.
Kind of along those lines. A suggestion like, if you define your goal then you will achieve it. It has some truth, but then there’s reality
But, if I say, if you quit working toward your goal because you have doubts, then you definitely won’t achieve it. That is more easily provable as a solid truth. If you don’t practice, you won’t get better. If you fail once and stop, then you’re done. If you have problems and give up, not gonna get there. But none of those prove that defining the goal in the first place was a bad idea.
All there is on the subject is personal experience, it’s not like there is an effective way to measure mindset since you can’t get in someone’s head.
One contributor on there said that quantum physics posits irrealism, which isn’t true. Not to mention a lot of weirdo stuff about consciousness. I don’t regard anything on there too seriously.
No but that doesn’t really affect how mindset doesn’t change the outcome of interactions. I know there is that saying “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right” and that’s just not true. I can point to my own experience when I thought I could and I was wrong and I thought I couldn’t and I was also wrong.
I get that, but overall the stuff posted on that site isn’t very reliable. There are a couple good things here and there but most of my interactions with it have been the weird stuff involving realism, quantum physics, and consciousness.
That’s close to reality but not entirely right. Just because you work toward your goals doesn’t mean you’ll achieve any of them. That’s the whole being realistic thing when it comes to a job in today’s society.
Same with practice, it doesn’t always make you better, some just never improve no matter how hard they try. Some never really achieve anything that they want to in life despite the effort.
There is no guarantee in life.
Logical fallacy. Attacking some other aspect or trait of the source, and not addressing the data and logic that was presented. As CC’s reaction tells you, he was interested in the one speech, not the whole website.
Essentially what I said. Even when I agree with you, you make it into a disagreement.
Even so, it didn’t have anything to do with what was being discussed. Also it’s not really a fallacy to call that into question when the site itself frequently posts questionable stuff about reality not being real and things like it.
Your comment made it seem otherwise.
It’s a talk by Nick Lane I was pointing at.
Thank you.
That’s fair enough to bring up.
But it’s not okay to ignore that Nick Lane does know what he is talking about.
And what Professor Lane talks about has everything to do with learning about and understanding why we are evolved biological creatures (products of Earth’s processes) and that our thoughts and emotions and beliefs are all formed within ourselves as we interact with the living world around us and within us.
It’s key to understand who one is, and the key to unlocking and understanding all those struggles we put ourselves through.
