Military Budget vs, FEMA Budget

Big challenges are coming, if we had been taking this manmade global warming thing and what the scientists have been warning us about seriously,
perhaps we would be prepared for the multiple battering we’re going to be receiving this hurricane season.
Not to mention wildfires and droughts.
The hurt is getting closer.
So how long, you think, before military spending needs to be diverted to saving our country ?

In terms of saving the country the military budget is more important than FEMA. That said, a few billion could be trimmed from it, but don’t count on that happening anytime soon.

The military in the US isn't being used to protect the nation, it's being used to protect the interests of the same corporations that are killing us all with fossil fuel caused climate change. Look at where the US has been spending trillions fighting in the last three decades, it's all about oil. We don't own our governments any more - if we ever did - those who can afford to buy their people into office own our governments. Like rich oil, coal and gas companies. Which then demand that the government controlled militaries are then used to make sure those same companies never lose their control. It's rigged game and won't end as long as we let rich psychopaths run everything. Which means climate change is going to keep getting worse and worse and trillions of dollars more are going to be spent on making sure the oil, coal and gas keep flowing. It's obvious by now that mere people mean absolutely nothing to these freaks and that includes the governments of Russia and China as well.

That's so easy to say if you think Hurricane Harvey and Irma are freak events that will never happen again. If on the other hand, you accept that we are entering a new era of increasingly destructive weather events, be they multiple serious Hurricane hits, droughts, heat waves, torrential storm systems. Imagine if Irma had bullseye Miami and marched up the coast and flattened Cape Kennedy and on. We got lucky, still the big ones are going to keep getting bigger, it's simple geophysics. What happens when the Mississippi makes that right turn into the Atchafalaya that its been wanting to do for decades. 2011, was close, but we got lucky again. It's only a matter of time and every torrential downpour brings it a little closer until, ... I could see a time, who knows how far or near, when those realities outweigh the contrived wars people have established for fun and profit. Think about how amazingly fast the past decade screamed by? Haven't you noticed something relentless underfoot, momentum, things that we have always relied on, aren't so reliable or even available any more. We have a very complex interconnected world, and those connects have fragile weak links, I'm in awe at how well it runs, but from getting around a bit I'm also aware of many weak links. Ain't like sudden collapse of wonderful civilizations hasn't happen before. It isn't like anyone has learned lessons from all those previous examples.

Never while Republicans are in control. L

You're right, and Republicans like nothing better than a bloated military budget. Devastated people mean nothing. Helping people is SOCIALISM, after all. They should pull themselves up by their bootstraps, just like the 1% did. Ha!

The people wanting to collapse wonderful civilizations have. They've learned their lessons well. .
