Marxist humanism

For him, they may have been.

I agree. Now days, with wages as they are, everyone 16 and over in the house has to work just to have something. Didn’t use to be that way. My mother was home when I got home from school until I started Junior High. I was not a latchkey kid. It’s impossible now days not to have latchkey kids. Kids grow up running in the streets as though they have no adult to report to.

Racial discrimination has not ended. Please don’t fool yourself. As for women’s social position… did you miss the fact women had the right to an abortion, if they need or want one, taken away from them by the patriarchy?

Compared to pre capiltalism and democracy, women have it better and race, well, we know race isn’t real now. Still have cultural problems though, true.

Even with Dobbs, states are taking charge and protecting womens’ rights. Also, other countries are doing better than the US.

By following the conversation

“What system has ever been that didn’t involve people fighting for their rights?”

The friendly face of capitalism not the other face the dreamers say.

“It’s the struggle were in now, to defend democracy.”

Who is defending democracy? The democrats ? And what has democracy got to do with capitalism??

In the 1800s ?? Great days

Was that Marxist Humanism?

I was referring to CC. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but even so, it is possible that CC is romanticizing the past.

No. I know what primitive living feels like, I know what hard work is like, I know about freezing nights and the blessing of the morning sun, or having to put up with bad weather.
I know when it comes to comforts, the fortunate Haves are doing better than ever before in human history.

So long as we don’t look at the cost our comfortable life style requires, or the numbers of humans and other creatures, and biosphere, who have suffered to make it possible for us to live this way,

Nor considering the ultimate price, that we are starting pay, for our comfortable thoughtless entitled western life style.

I can be happier with less and living closer to the land. But we can’t jump back in time, we are here today and our t_ts are in the ringer and it didn’t need to go down like this.

I can’t have a discussion if you ask inane questions like this. Capitalism and democracy are tied together because when people vote, they vote for freedom. That includes choosing what to buy and what work to do.

Not everyone knows race isn’t real. There are still racists people in this world.

Have you been to a Red state, like Missouri, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, etc? They are taking women’s rights away. They aren’t protecting women’s rights.

Racial discrimination is no more founded on law.

About the status of women, we are not comparing with the status of three years ago, but with the status they had 60 or 100 years ago !!! !

Even contraception was illegal, equality of pay unthinkable and so. In France a woman could not work or manage a bank account without the written permission of her husband. the man was the chief of the family, legally.

I know. But we are comparing. No one said these problems are gone. No one here is saying we stop trying to do better

Of course you dont when you dont read the preceding posts

Thats such an ill informed take, as if democracy is compatible with capitalism without question.

I question everything. You are the one who deals in absolutes. Of course democracy is compatible with capitalism. We can vote to regulate it. There is no perfect implementation of any ideology, so, again, question everything. Constant change. Work toward a better tomorrow.

Of course it is he says. Works beautifully when the results fall in favour of one side to the detriment of the other.

So where can i see democracy being fought to be saved? Is it at home? The workplace ? On the streets ? Surely not in the political arena one would think.

What are you talking about?

Where can I see this hard fought struggle to save democracy?

Um, in democracies, I guess. Where are you looking?

Where did you say ? On my telly ??? At the Movies? Story books??
