HOW DARE YOU!!

...that biospheres/environments that evolved under one climate regime do not adapt to survive radical climate regime changes. IT IS THAT SIMPLE.
They suffer great dies offs on every level, since it is an infinitely interconnected network, some survive thanks to certain pre-adaptations and/or shear luck of the draw, most do not.

The survivors then re-evolve a totally new biosphere -

so from God’s Eye View, you can say that we will certainly adapt to the new condition once the coming catastrophes play themselves out, but you can also bet that’ll be on the scale of centuries and millennia and much more. But Earth shall rise again.

@citizenschallengev3

Holy shit that video graphic is terrifying

@citizenschallengev3

LOL, I posted that very same Dunning Kruger Effect video on this very thread before you did

Guess who isn’t watching it

Tee, my bad,

I should have tipped my hat to you - I was too lazy to find a different one and that video that you shared explained plenty well enough. So I simple copied it thinking perhaps he missed it the first time.

Yes the graphic is terrifying, sadly it does put our situation into realistic context.

I’d like to refresh everyone’s memory, to another incident of ruthless misrepresentation - something liberals keep giving these frauds a pass on! Why is that?

TimB, Mike, You must be the only “progressive” who thinks we should be pumping more CO2 into the atmosphere.

Around here anyway.

For the sun, I go to Dr. Moon. He seems to understand the sun. Dr. Moon in July was in a House Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing on climate change, under questioning by Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05), four members of a bipartisan panel of climate science experts all admitted that humans are NOT responsible for the Earth’s global warming that has occurred over the past 20,000 years (since the Earth’s last glacial maximum).

I’m not willing to go that far. I still go with the 3% until someone can come up the datum points. Now you understand that in areas like America we are going to see more affects than Canada. But we have to average the affects worldwide.

Dr. Twila A. Moon, Research Scientist, National Snow and Ice Data Center’s (NSIDC) Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences.

Dr. Moon is a progressive and dedicated to the restoration of a progressive democracy.

Tim, you know the problem is overpopulation. Talking about that is taboo. It is said America creates a lot of carbon. The most per person in the world. So, why are people wanting to bring millions more into to our country if they care about lowering the carbon? The hypocrisy is never ending.

So much of the data is still bad or changing. It is agreed that 1,000 to 2,000 ppm levels of CO2 causes drowsiness and should not be used. Yet, our submarines use 4,100 ppm with a range of 300-11,300 ppm. Is there something they are not telling us! We really haven’t got what we paid for with Climate Science in the last few decades.

I’ve been very busy, and have only been able to steal minutes to visit, before getting pulled off again. I’ve been meaning to post this for a couple days and apologize for not getting up here in a timely fashion.

I thought I’d send her an email and ask Twila Moon, PhD about what sounded to me like very devious rhetoric mugging, in Mike endless campaign of vandalism.

Dr. Moon,

At a discussion forum I participate in the following claim was made about your testimony:

"For the sun, I go to Dr. Moon. He seems to understand the sun. Dr. Moon in July was in a House Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing on climate change, under questioning by Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05),

four members of a bipartisan panel of climate science experts all admitted that humans are NOT responsible for the Earth’s global warming that has occurred over the past 20,000 years (since the Earth’s last glacial maximum)."

This poster is known for his inaccuracies, I’m hoping you might take a moment to let me know if this is that you actually said, at that hearing

(true to form our character doesn’t offer any citations or links).

Any information or corrections you could offer will be much appreciated - and shared at that CFI Forum thread.

Thank you, sincerely,

Peter M

to me

Hi Peter -

Thank you for getting in touch. I’m sad and angry to see this false information perpetuated. It is correct that I and 4 other land ice experts were testifying in Congress in July. The full video and written testimony from the hearing is here:

https://science.house.gov/hearings/earths-thermometers-glacial-and-ice-sheet-melt-in-a-changing-climate

Representative Brooks did ask about warming 20,000 years ago. Here is the Q&A I had with him from the transcript:

Brooks: So you also agree then that the global warming that has occurred over the last 20,000 years, that 11 degree Fahrenheit increase in temperature was not human caused at least when it began 20,000 years ago?

Me (Dr. Moon): So I would agree that when it began 20,000 years ago when we were coming out of the last glacial, that was not caused by humans.

Brooks: All right.

Me: The warming of the last hundred years most certainly was.

So you can see that I was NOT saying that humans are not responsible for the Earth’s global warming that has occurred over the past 20,000 years. And in fact, this was the position of all of my colleagues as well. We all are in 100% agreement that warming 20,000 years ago was natural, but recent global warming is almost entirely due to human action! We discussed whether to try to follow up with Brooks about his false statements (he posted the below lie on his website!) but were told that is was unlikely we could make any headway there.

Again, thank you for getting in touch. Do not hesitate to share this information with others. I’m deeply disturbed and saddened to see my name falsely attached to the below lie.

Best,

Twila

P.S. For the record, I’m a woman.

Yes Dr. Twila,

all it took was looking up your name and finding out a little bit about your background. Something our MikeYohe doesn’t take much interest in. I quoted him without correction, though in my first response I did drop the fact that you were a woman - without rubbing his face in it. Doing my best not to be catty and focus on writing for the audience.

Thank you for that response. May I assume that I have your permission to share your complete quote?

I have a bunch going on today, but when I get to posting that I’ll send you a link.

Best wishes, (and thank you so much for taking the time to respond!)

Hi Peter -

Yes, you are welcome to use the full quote. Thanks for helping to bring the correct information to light.

Best,

Twila

Nicely done, CC.

Quote mining is disgusting. What aspect of our personalities makes supporting beliefs more important than being correct? Crap like that is, in my opinion, the greatest threat to humanity.

You’re attempting to correct one instance of a billion examples to be found online. But a journey, no matter how long, begins with one step, so keep plugging along and hopefully we get to our destination.
