I will leave you to talk amongst yourselves. Have fun! :)You were never here for rational discussion anyway. Don't let the door hit you. You're right, he didn't want to discuss anything, he wanted to preach his brand of religion. His mind was closed. Lois The discussion is far from rational, more like one sided. I am open to many things, but feel I was blatantly attacked because my posts were over-involved in religion. :( I wonder if there is any “real" moderation around here. I would be obliged to stick around but not with this hostility. It’s very obvious! So yes good by! As I said, have fun talking amongst yourselves. :) Sorry you feel that way Jacko1. I feel that my approach is the most fair. I have certain rules and boundaries for discussion, like asking for evidence. I choose them because I want to know what is true, and I find that is the best way. Your approach was to make statements and not accept any feedback or take any follow-up questions about them. Referring to Biblical passages as evidence would be the same as me referring to my father's words as evidence. My father was always right, so if I say he said it, then it's right. I know he was always right because he told me so. But I didn't do that because I don't believe it is fair.
“I’m not going to attempt to say anything about quantum physics because I suspect it would be a waste of time. “ From Lausten 10-23 Write4U then explains the Copenhagen interpretation. He explains that physicists are still working on this, that it is a matter of viewing phenomena from different perspectives. He never mentions consciousness affecting particles, because physicists who work on this never mention it. “...but common sense (dependant on the double slit experiment) dictates that when an observer is watching, these particles are “consciously aware", and change their path." From Jacko1 10-23Jacko, you do not understand that in physics the word "observer" is not specifically a person. It can be a non-sentient camera or any instrument that records an event. The convenient verbal expression of a particle seeming to be consciously aware has nothing to do with consciousness itself. In a movie theater there are two observers a) the recorder which displays a movie of objects in motion. b) the audience watching the moving objects displayed on the screen. A movie is a series of still frames (quanta), and when the movie stops at a certain point, only a single frame (still picture) is displayed. The audience is not instrumental in stopping the movie, but will observe a single frame. Did the audience cause the projector to stop and display the single frame or is it the defective recorder which stopped the movie in "time"?
“And there, even as I have said it would, it has come to pass." Lausten 10-24Jules Verne could have said the same thing. He said we could land on the moon and it did come to pass that we landed on the moon. Praise be Jules Verne.
Do you really think that Noah was able to gather breeding pairs of every living animal on earth?I do! But sure, he had some logistic problems, as you see depicted here]. We know what the consequences were... What's that thing in the water behind the boat? Appears to be a single elephant. Apparently there was not enough room in the boat. Thus my graphic response. The painting itself is impressive, but as a famous scientist once said. The proposition is wonderfully presented by its binding and paper quality.

Apparently there was not enough room in the boat. There was plenty of room in the boat but when was the last time you took a look in the bottom. Who do you think has to clean out that thing.? I'd have the elephant go for a swim too

I'd have the elephant go for a swim too Don't forget the rhinos and all the other large grazing animals. It must have been a busy time for Noah and his family. I know how he must have felt. As a teenager living next to the Amsterdam zoo, I used to help feed the few animals in the petting zoo and clean their pens. btw. the movie "Life of Pi" is worth seeing.
Here is some info on Noah’s Ark.
- It was a 120 year project with hired help and very good pre-flood technology.
- It’s estimated that no more than 35,000 kinds of animals would have been required and they were drawn by God to the ark by him since the continents were not separated yet. Panangeia
- Construction: About 150 train boxcars space would be needed. God gave Noah the exact dimensions and it had lots of windows for ventilation.
Specs: 3 stories high, 450 ft long, 75 feet wide. The equivalent space of 520 boxcars. Quite roomy for 8 humans and the cargo for 40 days plus the long wait for land to be seen.

Apparently they did not have the technology to build a dam to prevent the flood. Most of Netherlands lies below sea level, but we managed to keep all that water from flooding the lowlands. 2) Yes god made all those animals migrate over snow peaked mountains, through empty canyons, sun drenched deserts, across mile wide rivers, knowing exactly where Noah lived and all arriving just in time to be saved by meekly entering the Ark, where all the pens were ready for the specific needs of 35000 species of animals? They also had very advanced husbandry in those days and knew exactly what diet each species required. 3) A cruise ship with all modern conveniences specifically designed for housing animals for 377 days (1+ years)? Oh, I forgot that god made time go faster (slower, faster? I am so confused) for that specific event, thereby breaking all the rules of physics. 4) and witches fly on brooms!

Panangeia .Isn't it interesting that religious folks are perfectly willing to accept the geologic science that proves the existence of Pangea but are unwilling to accept the very same science that shows it broke up 200 million years ago. It must be really hard walking through life with blinders on.

Of course I knew the picture before, I know what is on it, and did not realise that it could not be recognised. That are two dinosaurs in a life boat, one has a life ring around its neck. (Maybe you should make sure that you see the picture real size, it is big, therefore I linked it instead of binding it in into the forum.) PS Michael Sowa makes very funny paintings. He is a cartoonist using painting techniques. Just do a google picture search on him.
Love the rubber life boat!
It’s true, they were very advanced in flood preparation in those days.
It's true, they were very advanced in flood preparation in those days. What do you think? Did the Dutch descend from Noah? O, no, stupid question. All land animals are descendants of those on the boat. BTW, I now realise: the fish, the whales and dolphins did not need to be punished?

the Genesis flood narrative, Yahweh decides to flood the earth because of the depth of the sinful state of mankind. Righteous Noah is given instructions to build an ark. When the ark is completed, Noah, his family, and representatives of all the animals of the earth are called upon to enter the ark. When the destructive flood begins, all life outside of the ark perishes. After the waters recede, all those aboard the ark disembark and have God's promise that He will never judge the earth with a flood again. He gives the rainbow as the sign of this promise.[9] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flood_mythOops, they are still around. How is that possible? Seems that the authors of the Flood myth forgot about aquatic life outside of the Ark. But of course, I KNOW how. Noah actually came back from the future and saved the whales. Just watch Star Trek IV, it is written, so it shall be done. I do find it curious that God must have changed his mind and is breaking his promise of "never judging the earth with another great flood". Seems that we are well under way to another one. I wonder what will come first, the Rapture or the next great flood. But I did see a rainbow the other day, so I am not going to worry about it. And to those who believe I am ridiculing, let us not forget that in days of old thoughts like this would be cause for the Inquisition to intervene and "put me to the test" of my faith, by tying me up and throwing me in the water. If I floated I would be an atheists and would be burned at the stake. If I sank, I would be pure and everyone would be so sorry about that.

Because of the rainbow they might think that God never will allow a global disaster anymore. So there is no need to do anything against global warming.

Or just about anything that needs attention down here on earth. I first (edit: SAW) comments online that go on about how some heathen is screwing up the planet, then conclude with "well, that's just a sign of the end times, so I guess it's fine, I'll be in heaven soon." When I started hearing that from people around me, then I really started getting worried.

Self fulfilling prophecies.Exactly. I have heard two actual Christians, not on TV, just a couple guys standing in a parking lot, arguing over whether or not it is right to increase tensions (up to and including pre-emptive strikes) in the Middle East in order to bring on the end times.
