Here’s another example of those nice corporations we are supposed to trust, since “decent” “honorable” humans are running them, we have the chicken industry to consider. Anyone catch the rerun of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Chickens” ?

It was a shocking expose’ on how the few mega corporations that dominate America’s poultry industry treat their ‘contract growers’ which is not quite as bad as how they treat their chickens. I think it serves as another insight into why so many feel such deep fear and loathing towards these Profits Über Alles Corporations.
Yeah, yeah, I know: hey that’s what “Free Market” is all about, get over it!
Pilgrim’s
Tyson
Sanderson Farms
Perdue
Pilgrim’s has a pretty website where they assure us that they

> "highly value our relationships with our poultry growers, because their success on the farm helps make possible the excellent Pilgrim's poultry products our customers expect and demand. Pilgrim's contracts with approximately over 4,000 family farmers in the U.S. and Mexico to grow chickens for our operations...."

Tyson's website assures us that:

> "We are a company of people engaged in the production of food, seeking to pursue truth and integrity, and committed to creating value for our shareholders, our customers, our Team Members, and our communities. We strive to be a company of diverse people. We strive to be honorable. We strive to be a faith-friendly company."

And so on and so forth. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ So what if that doesn't jive with this evidence? http://www.marketwatch.com/story/tyson-chicken-factory-farm-caught-on-hidden-camera-torturing-and-neglecting-animals-2015-07-09 http://www.tysontorturesanimals.com \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ As an aside it's quite bizarre that in today's world it's certain comedy shows that inform better than most news medias. http://www.salon.com/2015/06/02/how\_john\_olivers\_poultry\_rant\_could\_actually\_bring\_about\_reform\_for\_chicken\_farmers/ _So, how about it, what's the rest of this story?_

It’s no secret that industrialized food production is terrible for the animals, but it can’t really be done any other way.
Massive society = massive murder and torture of our food.

Still a fallacious argument that the actions of any set of corporations have anything to do with the actions of others.
And whoever said we are supposed to trust them? That’s what regulations are for, not too mention consumer choice. I haven’t been buying chicken from those companies for decades.

Whether it can be done any other way is not the topic at hand. Whether the public has a right to know the methods being used is. And the producers should be expected to publicise the methods they are using--even if, and especially if, it would cut into their profits. Lois

Want some morra dora, right her on the floora dora? Ever hear the truism, 'Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely'

But, here we get into the problem that their mega-wealth allow them to dominate "regulatory agencies" and policy making. Then when you have the Supreme Court giving them free rein on the electoral process with their truckloads of money that they can now freely inject into the process to control politicians and the media, well it's not a pretty picture and we see the signs of the product such policy and attitudes all over the place.

The Supreme Court declared corporations to be "persons," so they also have civil rights, though they don't have civil obligations. Lois

Ever compare your life to that of just about anyone else in history? Ever look at who was in charge 100 years ago? Ever heard or Strom Thurmond? Ever noticed that things are getting better? Ever stop complaining and do something? Ever read a book?
