I’m not a member so I didn’t hear the whole thing. I’m not saying it’s true or not but it’s interesting to see the change in how it’s received. I’m a nutshell, he’s saying Christianity has roots in ancient pagan beliefs and that they passed through Greek rituals that probably involved hallucinogenics. These rituals were annual events held by elite thinkers who were developing democratic ideas and all that woke “western” thinking.
These theories have been around for decades but this guy’s book is getting much more serious responses than past work. The scholarship has improved and the acceptance of the ideas has changed in recent years.
