I don’t expect newbies to stick around if they see something uninteresting. Like relating everything to math.
If you recall, I offer abstract mathematics as a viable replacement for an abstract God.
Have you actually watched that short Antonsen video ? Did you note the remarkable properties of the number 4/3, and the geometric pattern emerging from that number if applied in certain ways?
(see 1:00 and 7:30 and marvel at the patterns that are “enfolded” in mathematical values.
I trust my intuition. If I find something interesting, I know it will be interesting to others. If it is against the rules, let me know. I have about 5 of my favorite links that IMO, provide insight into the elegant simplicity of mathematics that I post occasionally as a refresher to viewers.
Repetitive posting. Not staying on topic. Not using evidence based reasoning. Demanding people watch your video. Off the top of my head.
Questions;
Repetitive posting: Is it ever allowed to repeat a posting? A time limit?
Not staying on topic: What is the topic?
Not using evidence based reasoning: The video clearly shows mathematical evidence.
Demanding people watch your video: I don’t demand, I don’t have the authority.
I do suggest.
In general, don’t we often cite the same sources when speaking about information relating to mainstream science, IOW quoting Einstein, Newton in support of a claim?
I do understand the need for judgement in these matters. I’ll try to curb my enthusiasm !
It would be impossible to have a rule for a specific number of posts in a certain time. You have been doing it for months, and people have expressed their feelings on it.
The topic is about emergent properties of populations. #3 discusses it and specifically notes that these are laws like NOT laws of physics.
Evidence of the thing you want to talk about. Not evidence that refers to what Muthukrishna is talking about. Staying on topic is more of a guideline, but more importantly, you repeatedly claim that your math theme relates to everything and is on topic. That’s really not possible given the range of topics you’ve applied it to. Plus, I’ve studied this idea in many ways, and I’ve told you I don’t agree with it. It’s not a consensus opinion of science, it’s the opinion of some smart people. that’s a big difference. You can have an opinion on this forum, but state it as an opinion, not as evidence.
How do you think it comes across when you write, “Have you actually watched that short Antonsen video ?” ? As I said above, I have many thoughts on this topic. Watching your video might inform them, but it doesn’t matter. If I don’t watch it, you don’t get to say I’m not allowed to have my thoughts. Look at most of my moderator comments, I ask people to give their thoughts along with their links, not just post things and then say those things speak for themselves.
C’mon Lausten, Do I need to put IMO in front of every post?
You: “Not evidence that refers to what Muthukrishna is talking about.”
I admit that I was unable to play the video, so I am unfamiliar with what Muthukrishna is talking about. I’ll find a way to check him out.
But can you explain why you believe that maths doesn’t apply to his vision?
After all, maths is an abstract function, just like all the other metaphysical “guiding principles”
The concept of mathematics is in all respects but one equal to a God-like fundamental object.
The one exception is “Free Will”.
Gods have FW and offer an indeterministic Universe,
Mathematics has no FW and offers a deterministic Universe.
I like the second model.
I realize you are a mod, just as Lausten and I are, thus, as senior mod, I prefer to take this conversation between mods else where. IMHO, mods should work things out like this in the mod section and not in front of members. This is to all three of us, not just you write4u. That said, I believe, Lausten is referring to 3H of the rules.
The link is to Podbean. It’s a free site with an optional login if you want to save stuff or whatever. Does the page come up? What error do you get? I’m especially curious because I made a podcast of my own on this site.
