I related that I have played paintball in the past. Sree asked:
Did you also throw bricks at other people? How do you compare that with shooting paintballs, a game that kids as young as 12 to 14 are allowed to play?
No I never threw bricks at other people. That question implies the lie that the right wingers riding in the bed of pickup trucks, literally spewing bear repellant on and shooting demonstrators with paintball guns, were doing so to protect themselves from brick throwers. Well sorry, Mr. Liar. Your right wing extremist buddies were simply being violently offensive (not defensive). No one was throwing bricks at them.
And NO ONE is allowed to play paintball unless all participants are wearing the proper kind of protective headgear.
Anyone who shoots other people with paintball guns, without permission, is committing assault. And it is dangerous assault that could easily blind people. Even 12 year olds can figure that out.
I just don’t know how much more clear this can be. There were no deaths in the peaceful parts of the protests. I don’t remember a death in the rioting and looting parts. The increase in murder rates has mostly been domestics and tension caused by people not being able to leave their homes or get paid work. But, the right-wing groups show up with their trucks and their guns and boom. What definition of law and order are they working with?
Suspects are always cuffed to the bed in case somebody tries to sneak them out, and to prevent them from sabotaging medical treatment e.g, ripping out IVs, removing dressings, etc.
I never thought of that. Why would they sabotage medical treatment though?
Could be a suicide attempt, a way to prolong their stay outside of jail, or just anger issues.
It’s a detailed breakdown of the events of the Rittenhouse shooting in Kenosha. A mix of blog and journalism. The commentary is that the people involved were almost all criminals one way or another, including the mom who drove her son there. This shooting happened because our loose gun laws and bad law enforcement. The rioters involved might support BLM, but do not understand the politics, nor do they have any sense of how to conduct a protest. Painting any of these people as representative of any organized group is reckless. I don’t know, see what you think.
IF he turns around with a knife. What if he whips around firing a gun?
Have you ever been in a gunfight before? Never mind that. Have you ever shot a gun in a self-defense course using a handgun?
And what if he zaps you with his heat vision??? What if his car is all decked out James Bond style and he’s going to hit the button to fire a missile at you??? What if he’s going to hit the cloak, deploy the wings and get away only to return with a DEATH RAY??? What if, what if, what if, just shoot him in the back because he’s BLACK AND DANGEROUS!
I’m done having a pointless argument with you where you go off into one fantasy scenario after another to justify unloading most of a clip into a man’s back. If you think that’s okay, if YOU could do that, if you have so little regard for your fellow man then frankly you’re not a person I want to have anything to do with anyway.
I got a call from a seemingly nice man who was shilling for donations for some Police Association. I immediately confronted him, about the never ending needless killing of blacks by cops. He hung up. Yay!
Maybe this will make the country finally address the issue with police robbing people on the streets legally. If you’ve ever seen a clip of someone being pulled over, when the cop asks if you have any guns, knives, etc., some of them include “large sums of money” in that. Why? Because in some states if they find it, they take it. And then the charge the MONEY with a crime because money, unlike you, is guilty until proven innocent. They are literally pulling people over to see if they have anything worth stealing from them!
Last night, an organized right wing caravan of 600 right wing extremists supporting the t rump, drove thru the previously peaceful protestors, inciting violence. They were waving t rump flags and shooting demonstrators with paintball guns and spraying some with bear repellant.
For this crime of assault, the t rump declared by tweet: “GREAT PATRIOTS!” Trump wrote as he shared video of his supporters driving into Portland to confront the protesters.
I used to play some paintball. One time (and this is not an exaggeration at all) I had a bruise larger than a large dinner plate on my torso. No problem, I was playing voluntarily. But I was, per the rules, wearing a helmet with a face shield. Otherwise, I and plenty of others would be blinded from playing. Anyway, I can vouch that being shot with a paintball gun when not playing paintball, is flat out assault. I have not experienced being sprayed with bear spray, but I am sure that is considered assault as well.
On a sad note, a right wing extremist was found shot to death later in the evening.
Yes, one of the t rump’s right wing extremists who he eggs on and calls GREAT PATRIOTS, is now dead, having given his life in support of LIES and in support of the most damaging of all LIARS evcr, the t rump.
The biggest mistake they made was not shooting rioters with real guns.

I know we like to have some fun around here, but this is pointless. There is no humor value here whatsoever. There is no political value to it. There is nothing brave about, in fact you are asking others to risk their lives for you, so it's cowardly. It's value is all negative. It does not belong here. Or anywhere, except around a fire with people who think this way.

A lot of speculation and two good points were made:
He is correct that putting yourself in harms way in order to engage in self-defense essentially cancels your right to self-defense as far as the law is concerned.

I have a hundred bucks here that say the police officer in this case will be acquitted of all charges by the jury even if there will be riots. It is not easy to accept the ways of the justice system when you are on the wrong side of the law.
It is controversial, and innocent people do sometimes have their money seized and never see it again, but the reasoning behind it makes sense.
How much is an unusually large amount of cash? I like cash and so do a lot of folks who don't live in cities. I carry as much as $20,000 whenever I go on road trips to places where people don't take credit cards.
It is not easy to accept the ways of the justice system when you are on the wrong side of the law.
So the Lovings were on the wrong side of the law until their case went to the Supreme Court and said that interracial marriage/relationships should be legal and that no one should be arrested for it? Until that point and time it was OK for them to be arrested for having a relationship, but not OK for a couple of the same skin colour to be arrested? Whether you realize it or not, that’s pretty much what you are saying, except instead of interracial marriage, it’s a Black guy getting shot in the back v a white man not getting shot in the back. From what I understand, he was not on the wrong side of the law at the time they shot him in the back.

Rittenhouse wasn't putting himself in harm's way. He wasn't looking for a fight. Carrying a gun is posturing. I doubt any of those gun-totting "militia" people had the guts, intent, or inclination to shoot at anyone. Rittenhouse was set upon by three bad hombre and he took them on to defend himself. It's not going to be easy for him having killed two men.
The biggest mistake they made was not shooting rioters with real guns... The rioters started it... If I lived in Portland I would have no problem killing rioters if necessary.
Let's get real before you go all racist Charles Bronson and kill thieves and vandals willy nilly.
Think.
the looters and vandals were given the opportunity by using law abiding demonstrators as cover.
the demonstrators came out because cops keep needlessly killing black people.
if there were no cops continuing to regularly needlessly kill black people, there would be no looters and vandals for you to kill.
therefore, if you want to be a real man hero, get the cops to stop needlessly killing black people.
then Wah-lah! no more looting and vandalism, and you didn't even have to kill anyone.
Remember this. In the immediate aftermath “Shock & Awe” we watched on TV as our soldiers stood by and allowed Iraqi looters to gut their National Museum, and steal the treasures of antiquity. They might as well have given the Iraqi looters shopping carts. They sure didn’t shoot them. (There was no one else to act as law enforcement, cause we had shut all of that down.) Iow, we were responsible for letting that happen.
Someone in our military or govt, apparently decided that the lives of the looters were more important than saving the Iraqi nation’s treasures of their ancient history.
I love this interview. The legal expert has no nuance, no gray area at all. The right wingers with guns are clearly the lawless ones.
The protesters are where the gray areas come in, they might be illegally assembling, they might be going against a temporary curfew, they might be writing graffiti. The ones who are looting are often not that concerned about politics, they are taking advantage of a situation where there are a lot of people. The ones who are starting fires are sometime the white “vigilantes”. One of them, the so-called “umbrella man” was eventually caught.
