American patriotic song

Song by George M. Cohan

Johnnie, get your gun
Get your gun, get your gun
Take it on the run
On the run, on the run

Hear them calling, you and me
Every son of liberty
Hurry right away
No delay, go today

Make your daddy glad
To have had such a lad
Tell your sweetheart not to pine
To be proud her boy’s in line

Over there, over there
Send the word, send the word over there
That the Yanks are coming
The Yanks are coming
The drums rum tumming everywhere

So prepare, say a prayer
Send the word, send the word to beware
We’ll be over, we’re coming over
And we won’t come back till it’s over, over there

Johnnie, get your gun
Get your gun, get your gun
Johnnie show the Hun
Who’s a son of a gun

Hoist the flag and let her fly
Yankee Doodle do or die
Pack your little kit
Show your grit, do your bit

Yankee to the ranks
From the towns and the tanks
Make your mother proud of you
And the old red, white and blue

Over there, over there
Send the word, send the word over there
That the Yanks are coming
The Yanks are coming
The drums rum tumming everywhere

So prepare, say a prayer
Send the word, send the word to beware
We’ll be over, we’re coming over
And we won’t come back till it’s over, over there.

Look at how far we’ve come. The smell of victory:

Slight - ironic - tangent: The US’s national anthem was composed by an Englishman in England.

John Stafford Smith - born in Gloucester and Gloucester Cathedral organist from 1743-1782.
Very ironically the star-spangled lyrics were written by an American in America - Francis Scott Key - in 1814 who was inspired by a victory over the British in 1812. He nicked the Englishman’s / Gloucestrian’s melody - though he wasn’t the first American to do so.

Nicked a little drinking ditty, didn’t he.

America (My Country 'tis of thee) = God Save the Queen

Yes, the crime, corruption, lack of democracy is never over here, its always over there.

Take care,

Name me one country that deems itself the perpetrator and not the defenders.

Lots of Citizens did for Vietnam and Iraq war

I don’t know how or where you could even confirm something like that.

The level public protest, resistance and civil dissent

Hey not to go off-topic, but you got me thinking about this interview I saw given by this journalist Vietnam vet. The way he tells the story really draws you in. I must have seen it at least 3 times. I thought you’d find it interesting.

Edit

Sorry, my bad. I thought he was a journalist. He does tell a good story though.

I understand your ironic twist.

Yep, they can just smell the blood on the streets. Can’t hardly wait until the killing starts. How many guns do you, djtexas, have in your closet.

Any assault weapons with extra large magazines, so you can just spray bullets indiscriminately at everybody "in the act of “self-defense” and in the name of public protest, resistance and civil dissent.
